Son of the Sea - Honoring the Irish Sea

From the calm harbor of Waterford to the storm-tossed cliffs of Inishmore, Ireland is a nation bound to the ocean. We brought together notes of fresh, salty ocean spray balance with deep leather in this unique, masculine tribute to the Irish god of the sea, Manannán mac Lir, who has kept Irish sailors safe for thousands of years.

All of our candles are hand-poured at our workshop using pure high quality 100% US-grown sustainable soy wax and lead-free eco-cotton wicks. Our fragrances never contain any parabens, pthalates, or acetones.

Who is Manannan mac Lir?

Manannán mac Lir ("Son of the Sea" in Irish) is the Irish sea god who protects sailors crossing the Irish Sea. Ruling from the Isle of Man, he ensures abundant crops and bountiful hauls from fishing boats in ancient stories of the island paradise. Like his better known Greek counterpart Poseidon, Manannán mac Lir protects sailors and can cross the land or sea in his chariot drawn by his horse (named Aonbharr or Enbarr, and is white or grey), which allows him to travel faster than the wind itself.
